ABOUT ME

First, you may want to know who "ME" is, because after all, it's all about ME. (insert eye roll here) Now, before I begin, you might want to remove all pets & small children from the room.  Why?  No reason, really.  It adds to the mystique. Ok, now that I have you on the edge of your seat, hold on to your pants & read on.

My name is Julie Bohringer.  I am 36, very single, very sexy, very creative & I own this business.  (If you need to go call your hot, single brother . . . hurry back, I'll wait)  How's that for an introduction? 
I started this company from scratch in 2004, with nothing more than a few bucks, a little confidence & a whole lot 'a luck.  What was I doing prior to this, you ask?  I was a crop salesman for a local farmer's cooperative.  I know, I know, it's exactly what you would have guessed.
Seriously though, I started designing patterns after I was fired from my job.  Yes, fired & I am not ashamed to say it.  There's no need to sugar coat it, as it turned out to be one of the best things that happened to me.  To keep my sanity & just stay busy, I began designing patterns for my Mom's quilt shop.  In 2004, I decided to launch my handful of patterns by vending at Spring Quilt Market & put up a website.  Whether I sailed or failed, was irrelevant to me at the time.  But I knew I would not forgive myself if I didn't at least take the chance.   Taking the leap is the hardest part, that's my feeling anyway.  So, I took the leap, launched my patterns out into "quilt world" & I began to sail!  At the time I began this adventure, I owned a small 1 bedroom house in Waukon, IA, where I operated my business out of my unheated garage.  I have since sailed out of town to a 2 story farmhouse on 27 acres of timber that overlooks a trout stream, built a new office, & hired 1 full time employee (Carrie - she rocks).  Now, I must tell you, I've left lots of details out of this Cinderella story.  My journey is littered with wrong turns, heartbreak, gut punches, & disappointments. But it's also full of new self confidence, fantastic new friends, financial stability & an amazing feeling that comes with
knowing I DID IT!!  Oh . . . . & I'm still single.

So, there you have it!  If you've read this far, then I haven't freaked you out nearly enough. Of course, it could mean that my story writing skills are so exceptional that I kept you hypnotized.  Ah, yes, I'm sure that's it.
